Traceability control enables you to trace every step of the product in the company. Thus, you can restrict the use of products with expired validity date.

The traceability control is based on lots, which are assigned to a group of products by the time they are entered in the system. Through this lot number, you can find out which raw-material lots were used in the production of a specific finished product, for example.

Suppose that this finished product has some raw-material problems. With traceability control enabled, you can precisely know which raw materials were used in production because the search is confined to specific lots and not to the entire stock of the product.

It is not viable to request 1600 pieces of product A, if there is in stock:

Sublot 00001 - 1,000 pieces

Sublot 00002 - 600 pieces

It would therefore be necessary to request 1000 from one sublot and 600 from another.

• L - Traceability by lot

In case of traceability by Lot, the balance is grouped by lot and the sub-lot is not even entered in a request. It is therefore possible to request 1600 pieces at once.

You must only inform the lot number in movements; the sublot number is ignored.

• Lots can be numbered following two methods:
• By product - defines a formula for each product through field Lot Form. Code (B1_FORMLOT).
• Standard - defines a standard formula for all product lots in parameter MV_FORMLOT.In this case, the field Lot Form. Code must not be entered.
• In Inbound Document, you can manually inform the lot number.
