TOTVS characteristic is to continuously offer its customers new tools. With SIGADW, it offers a product that follows the market standard of Data Warehouse, adding to the same tool options of ETL (Extraction, Transformation, and Load of Data), creation and view of management queries.

Below the brief concept of Data Warehouses and explanation about SIGADW, its characteristics, requirements, and main points.

What is Data Warehouse?

Data Warehouse is a big repository of historical data, that has mechanisms for storage and recovery of information, aiming at generating management queries to help decision-making.

For the creation, or - more accurately - for the modeling of a data warehouse, you must make an analysis of what must be measured in SIGADW, according to management analyses (and not according to the operational ones).

To make a survey of data to be measured, most known as indicators, you must interview the affected parties to make them analyze the importance of indicators suggested.

Once made the whole logical survey of needs, next step is to design and model how DW is. This modeling is also called multi-dimensional modeling. It can be Snowflake, created by W. H. Innon, or Star Schema, created by Ralph Kimball.

What is SIGADW?

This tool aims at generating management queries that help the final user make decisions, through the detailed analysis of charts and cross tables.

This tool helps the creation and maintenance of data warehouses, that are big data repositories with summarized information about operational databases. These data warehouses provide data required for the creation of charts and tables for the analysis of final user.

SIGADW differential characteristic is to be a fully web tool, created based on languages AdvPL and AdvPL ASP (both Totvs technologies) together with Java Platform.

SIGADW Characteristics

SIGADW does not have the same characteristics of the standard modules of Microsiga Protheus® ERP because it is not run through system remote. It is a product with web technology and, due to technical characteristics to create a data warehouse, there are no parameters to be configured in Configurator module of Microsiga Protheus®.
