Technical Terms

Data Warehouse:

Data Repository. Data of a Data Warehouse are stored synthetically. It contains data of several company sectors.

 

Cube:

In a Data Warehouse you can have several cubes, in which each cube has data of a company sector.

 

Fact:

Fact is the definition for the table that has indicators to be analyzed in queries. Besides, this table has keys that connect it with dimensions.

 

Dimension:

In the dimension, breaks to be analyzed in queries are defined. These breaks can also be called Attributes. For example, you can have a Customer dimension, a Product dimension, etc.

 

Attributes:

They are the characteristics of a dimension. For example: Code, Name, Address, State, etc.

 

Indicators:

They are the values to be analyzed.

 

Metadata:

It is the structure of cubes created, containing information about dimensions, attributes, and table-fact. It does not contain data.
