QBE (Query-by-Example)
QBE (Query-by-example) is a resource that facilitates the creation of search expressions in SIGADW. Expressions created with QBE help can be used in some points of SIGADW as browsers, Filters and Selections.
QBE resources and automatic search in browsers facilitate searches of information displayed in system browsers.
| • | Note: |
With QBE and automatic search in browsers, searches made in browsers by using the option Selection do not follow the search rule called Equal To anymore because they start considering the search rule called Contain.
Either the presentation of QBE in browsers or the automatic search is optional.
Procedures of Use
1 . In the menu Main/Configuration/View, two new options are displayed:
| • | Display QBE (Browser): This option enables you to choose YES to display QBE in all system browsers, or NO not to display it. |
| • | Apply filter automatically (Browser): It enables you to choose: 1. DO NOT APPLY, searches are still made when the option Apply is activated;2. APPLY, search is made when you finish entering filter expression;3. APPLY AND OPEN SEARCH AREA, it works as the same as APPLY option. However, the area for search entry is already displayed in a expanded way. |
2. Choose one of the possible combinations between the presentation of QBE in browsers and the automatic application of filters. To develop this documentation, choose YES to Display QBE (Browser) and APPLY to Apply Filter Automatically (Browser).
3. Access a browser: the icon of QBE is displayed next to the name of each column.
4. Click the icon of QBE and create a filter expression to be applied to the column selected. By clicking Apply, the filter defined is automatically applied, regardless of the option chosen in Apply filter automatically (Browser).
5. Activate the icon Selection, the area to do filters is expanded.
6. Enter a filter expression. By finishing the entry, the filter expression is automatically applied.
