Data Source

Next step is to define data source (s) of this cube. To do this, click Data Source via the submenu of the cube created earlier.

1. Click New to enter the characteristics of the Data Source:

Name: give a name to this Data Source.
Description: give a description to this Data Source.
Connection: choose a connection previously created.
Update Method: type of updated used for this dimension, where:

Default: enter the record.

Inclusion: identical to the standard.

Upgrade: if there is no equivalent record, add the record. If there is equivalent record, update the record value.

Invalid Processing: it specifies how the processing is, if there are invalid records.
Invalid Reports: it specifies the report of invalid records.
Perform Queries: to update added data of each query after each import (and not when the query is performed for the first time after import), select this option. It speeds up the first query execution. Added data are the data of each query, created to make the navigation process faster.

2. Click Next to go to Parameterization page.

3. Note that defining SQL Data is required for Select creation:

4. After making the clause, you must click Save.

Before importing the cube, you must check if the links between the keys of table-fact and the dimension primary keys are defined correctly.

For this, in data source of the cube, choose Scripts through the submenu.

Thus, all key fields of table-fact are displayed.

If no field is selected in Origin Field, you must indicate in the table-fact which field relates to the respective Dimension primary key.

If in table-fact, as in dimension, the name of related fields is the same, there is no need of change. Otherwise, select from the list the right field of the table-fact that relates to the dimension.

Repeat the operation for all fields that need this operation.

Then, import table-fact. For this, choose Data Source of the cube and click Import.

Several cubes can be created by using different dimensions. However, these cubes are not related, unless by the dimensions in common, if there is any.
