Metadata

A metadata corresponds to the complete structure of a SIGADW element (dimension, cube, or query), containing the relevant information. This metadata is not related to data sources.

It specially aims at enabling a metadata to be exported to other Data Warehouses in order to avoid its reconstruction in a different environment.

Example:

You can replicate a cube in a different SIGADW deployment through the creation of metadata in this deployment and the import of metadata in any other deployment. For this, you just need to change data sources according to the need.

SIGADW enables the export of the whole cube, the export of only cube dimensions, or the export of queries.

Exporting a metadata:

1. Create a directory called Metadata under the RootPath of the System and, inside it, create a directory called Upload.

2. Access the menu Tools/Metadata, select which items you want to export. Select the option Save File Locally in order to download the file to the local machine.

3. Click Send.

4. In the page of metadata generation, click Download (at the end of the page) and enter then a name and a directory for metadata. A file with this name and .dwm extension is generated in disk.

Important:

SIGADW generates metadata file in the directory chosen. Thus, this file can be imported by any other SIGADW, in which structures (not data) are reflected.
