Objective

This guide aims to present the specificities of the update of WebDav with Windows.

Help desk for HTTP on Microsoft Office

Some versions of Microsoft Office are not compatible with WebDav. In such case, for verification and proper operation, refer to the help desk for HTTP on Microsoft Office. To verify whether there is a configuration on Office, just open a document straight from a web link, such as: http://calibre-ebook.com/downloads/demos/demo.docx.  Office 2013 should offer the option Other places on the Web in Open, according to the image:

 

Use of WebDav with Windows Vista®

We have only verified the operation with Microsoft® Office 2007 SP2+. With Microsoft® Office 2002 and 2003, in some cases, it does not work and no Microsoft® hotfix regarding this problem could be found.

All hotfix and forums consulted refer to Windows Vista® with Microsoft® Office 2007, therefore we recommend the use of this version on machines with Windows Vista®.

 

  1. Apply Service Pack 1 (or higher) and the following hotfix:

    Windows Vista® 64 (not simulated)
    - KB948531 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948531

    Windows Vista® 32
    - KB945435 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945435
    - KB907306 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907306
    - KB942392 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942392


  2. Change the compatibility mode of Microsoft® Word so that it is executed as Windows® XP.
    - Find the executable file of Microsoft® Word.
    Usually on C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\winword.exe
    - Edit the properties and, on the Compatibility tab, mark the option Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select the Windows XP option.
  3. Verify the existence of the following DLLs in the directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin" of each client station.
    1. jdic.dll

    2. jacob-1.17-M2-x86.dll / jacob-1.17-M2-x64.dll


Use of WebDav with Windows® 2008

We have only verified the operation with Microsoft® Office 2007 SP2+. With Microsoft® Office 2002 and 2003, in some cases, it does not work and no Microsoft® hotfix regarding this problem could be found.

All hotfix and forums consulted refer to Windows® 2008 with Microsoft® Office 2007, therefore we recommend the use of this version on machines with Windows® 2008.

 

  1. Apply Service Pack 2 (or higher) and the following hotfix: KB907306.

  2. In some cases, the following resource was necessary:
    - Desktop experience.

  3. In some cases, the following function was necessary:
    - WebServer (IIS 7.0), together with the installation of Microsoft WebDAV Extension for IIS 7.0.

  4. Change the compatibility mode of Microsoft® Word so that it is executed as Windows® XP.
    - Find the executable file of Microsoft® Word.
    Usually on C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\winword.exe
    - Edit the properties and, on the Compatibility tab, select the option Run this program in compatibility mode:and choose the Windows XP option, according to the image below:
  5. Verify the existence of the following DLLs in the directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin" of each client station.
    1. jdic.dll

    2. jacob-1.17-M2-x86.dll / jacob-1.17-M2-x64.dll

 

Use of WebDav with Windows® 7

To use WebDav with Windows® 7, two steps are necessary:

  1. Install the Microsoft® hotfix: KB907306.

  2. Change the compatibility mode of Microsoft® Word so that it is executed as Windows® XP.
    - Find the executable file of Microsoft® Word.
    Example: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\winword.exe
    - Edit the properties and, on the "Compatibility" tab, select the option Run this program in compatibility mode:and choose the Windows XP option, according to the image below:
  3. Verify the existence of the following DLLs in the directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin" of each client station.
    1. jdic.dll

    2. jacob-1.17-M2-x86.dll / jacob-1.17-M2-x64.dll
