Speaking of folder...

Folders are used for organizing the learning structure of the course subjects and classes catalog.

Inside each folder you can add new folders, links and subjects as long as you have permission to perform such actions.



Create new folder


01. After clicking NewFolder where the folder will be created, enter the requested information in the General information tab.

Required information include:

Acronym
Acronym to be assigned to the folder.

Name
Name of the folder.

02. Click on the Security tab.

03. Define whether the folder should inherit the permissions from the parent folder.

Available options are:

Inherits permissions
When selected, the permissions and restrictions assigned to the folder will be the same as the parent folder. Even when the folder inherits the permissions, you can define other permissions or restrictions specific to the folder in addition to those already inherited.

Does not inherit permissions
When selected, the permissions and restrictions of the parent folder are not assigned to the folder.

04. In Permissions, click Add if you want to define the folder access permissions.

05. In the pop-up window, find and select the user, user group, class or course subject to which you wish to assign permissions.

To find the item, use the search field – located in the upper right corner of the window – or page through the items – arrows located in the lower right corner.

You can also select more than one item at once.

06. Click on Add.

07. In the Level column – next to the added item –select the option that establishes the permission level to be assigned to it.

Available options are:

  • Reading
  • Execution
  • Writing
  • Modification
  • Deletion
  • Complete.

For detailed information regarding each permission option, go to Catalog permissions and restrictions.

To edit the permission on an added item, simply select the new option to be assigned to it in the Level column.

To delete an added item, simply click the Delete icon – located in the line corresponding to the item and to the right of the Level column.

08. In Restrictions, click Add if you want to define folder access restrictions.

09. In the pop-up window, find and select the user, user group, class or course subject to which you wish to assign restrictions.

To find the item, use the search field – located in the upper right corner of the window – or page through the items – arrows located in the lower right corner.

You can also select more than one item at once.

10. Click on Add.

11. In the Level column – next to the entered item – select the option which establishes the restriction level to be assigned to it.

Available options are:

  • Reading
  • Execution
  • Writing
  • Modification
  • Deletion
  • Complete.

For detailed information regarding each permission option, go to Catalog permissions and restrictions.

To edit the restriction on an entered item, simply select the new option to be assigned to it in the Level column.

To delete an added item, simply click the Delete icon – located in the line corresponding to the item and to the right of the Level column.

12. Click Save; or Cancel if you wish to quit creating the folder.



Edit Folder


 Users are required to have, at least, modification permission on the folder to perform this action.


01. In the catalog, access the location where the folder is.

02. Click the icon Edit, located to the right of the folder name.

03. Change the information of your choice. For more details about the displayed fields, see the basic path.

04. Click Save; or Cancel if you want to discard the changes made.



Copy folder

Only users that have, at least, writing permission on the destination location are allowed to perform this action. 


01. In the catalog, access the location where the folder is.

02. Click the icon Copy/move, located to the right of the folder name.

03. In Item Destination, click Search.

04. In the Target items window, enter the name of the location to which the folder is copied.

05. In the listing displayed, select the target location of the folder copy.

06. Click Add and close the window.

07. Click Copy.

When pressing this option, the copy of the folder is created in the location set. 



Move folder


You are required to have, at least, deletion permission on the folder location and modification permission on the destination location to perform this action. 


01. In the catalog, access the location where the folder is.

02. Click the icon Copy/move, located to the right of the folder name.

03. In Item Destination, click Search.

04. In the Target items window, enter the name of the location to which the folder is moved.

05. In the listing displayed, select the location to which the folder is moved.

06. Click Add and close the window.

07. Click Move

When pressing this option, the folder is moved to the location set. 



Delete folder


You are required to have, at least, deletion permission on the folder location to perform this action. 


01. In the catalog, access the location where the folder is.

02. Click the icon Delete, located to the right of the folder name.

03. In the displayed message, click Yes to confirm the deletion of the folder or No to quit the action, if desired.



Create subject in the folder


Users are required to have, at least, writing permission on the folder to perform this action. 


01. In the Course subjects and classes catalog, access the folder in which the subject will be created. 

02. Click New.

03. Click Subject

When pressing this option, the subject insertion window appears. More information about available actions can be obtained in Subject. 



Create link in the folder


Users are required to have, at least, writing permission on the folder to perform this action. 


01. Access the folder in which the link will be created. 

02. Press New.

03. Press Subject.

When pressing this option, the window to add links is displayed. More information about available actions can be found in Link.
